Stainless steel grade 17-4 is a widely used precipitation hardening grade. Although soft and pliable in the solution annealed condition, it possesses good properties with a single precipitation or aging treatment.
17-4 Precipitation Hardening also known as Type 630 is a chromium-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel used for applications requiring high strength and a moderate level of corrosion resistance. High strength is maintained to approximately 600 degrees
NITRONIC 60® (Alloy 218) (UNS S21800) Wear and Galling
Cr 17, Mn 8, Ni 8.5, Si 4, N 0.13, Mo 0.75, C 0.10, Fe Bal., Cu 0.75, S 0.030, P 0.040 The corrosion resistance of Armco NITRONIC 60 Stainless Steel falls between that of types 304 and 316. However, experience shows that in a wear system, a galling or siezure failure occurs first, followed by dimensional loss due to wear, and finally
Type 630 is most common PH stainless, better known as 17-4; 17% chromium, 4% nickel. 650 through 653Austenitic steels strengthened by hot/cold work. 660 through 665Austenitic superalloys; all grades except alloy 661 are strengthened by second-phase precipitation. Type 2205—the most widely used duplex (ferritic/austenitic) stainless steel
Jun 20, 2017 · I have a small few parts to make up out of 17-4 ph stainless steel, probabily in h900 or h1025. They are simple enough blocky shapes, nothing too intricate. What is this steel in these levels of hardness like to machine ? Someone told me its easier to machine when its harder than when its soft, but i have my doubts.
Specialty Steel Supply is one of the largest distributors of austenitic, precipitation hardened, duplex and martensitic stainless steel round bar as well as various nickels and custom pump shafts, and they offer in house welding, heat treating, bar turning, forging and honing.
Structural Steel Pipe, is a welded steel tube with an internal weld seam that is measured in nominal size unlike DOM or Welded Round Tube. A500 Steel Pipe is a economical structural grade pipe with a smooth bare finish that has slightly higher mechanical properties than standard pipe.
